Round 11 2016

July 5, 2016

Last week we journeyed to Cranbourne which provided a mixed bag of results for our girls, with both wins and losses across the junior and senior sides. Full credit goes to all of our teams from this weekend as they battled in tough conditions, and not once did they let their heads drop or lose motivation no matter what the score line showed. A special mention goes to our 15 Red team this week. A win saw them make their way back into the Top 5 by securing a close win over their in-form opponents.

U13 Red

The girls had an amazing start to their game this week and came out firing in the first quarter. However, a lapse in concentration saw them drop off the intensity in the 2nd and just couldn’t find a way back into the game. A great effort by the girls halving the opposition’s score as opposed to when we played them last.

Final Score 8-22, BOC: Monique Mitchell

U13 White

Heading into the game we hoped that the 13 Whites brought their form from the weeks training session to the game. The team though found it difficult in the wet, with passes not reaching their destination.

Final Score 3-32, BOC: Emily Little

15 Red

A ripper game by the girls today that put us back into the top 5. We started really strong and focused on keeping our game short and sharp and treasuring our possessions. Our defense was strong across the board and it was great to see the girls swooping on any loose balls and pulling in intercepts. A great game that shows hard work pays off!

Final Score 16-14, BOC: Victoria Tiplady

15 White

This week we had a bit of a slow start to the match, which saw us working hard to try and stay in the game. We managed to get within one goal but unfortunately couldn’t hold on in the end. The girls fought all the way through and showed real improvement in some areas, which is always good to see.

Final Score 17-23, BOC: Amy Harrison

17 Red

This week the girls showed fantastic patches of putting into play what we have been working on at training. We need to bring this to the majority of our games and the rest will follow.

Final Score 12-49, BOC: Sarah O’Hagan

D Grade

The girls played a solid and consistent 4 quarters today to beat the top placed Cranbourne side by 1 goal. Defence was strong down the court and a few different combinations through the middle worked well, with our goalers also moving beautifully and converting their shots. A great game all round.

Final Score 34-33, BOC: Alana Hadley

 C Grade

Nothing like a nail biter finish! Determination and positivity were two key factors that saw our girl’s claim a tough, fought out win until the final whistle. It was impressive to see the girls compose themselves under scoreboard and sideline pressure.

Final Score 24-23, Rochet Kitchens BOC: Nicole Green

 B Grade

Tough conditions as always at Casey Fields, which didn’t help us this week, as went into quarter time with a 7 goal deficit to fight back. The team fought back hard and strong to win the next 3 quarters but it just wasn’t enough this week.

Final Score 40-42, Andrew Tang BOC: Madelina K

A Grade

Another tough game this week for the girls, with key players still missing from this side. We continued to work on; Composure, Completion and Control, and we showed ourselves that we can be competitive and move the ball well. Our players are slowly gaining confidence in each other each week, allowing for some great plays to come about.

Final Score 29-49, Arden Homes BOC: Sarah McDermott
